When we were young !!!

Ok guys, this is that time of the year when I get nostalgic because another year is almost over and I have to look back. How many of you here remember those days when Chester was blonde? or Mike had red hair? or do you remember that old joke of Brad's headphones? I want you to tell me your first Linkin Park memory, the oldest one you have.

My first memory would be when I saw Crawling for the first time and thought the blonde guy had a terrific voice and was cute too hehe. I never thought that day would literally CHANGE my life.

The other day Britta made a post on her blog about the old school LP fans (like myself) and we all agreed how after at least 6 years the band stopped being just our favorite band and became like a family to us. What does Linkin Park mean to you? what's your favorite and why?... let us know all about it, we want to know!.

I do remember Mike’s red hair and how much I liked it. I remember Chester’s blond hair, plaid pants, and tattoos. I remember Brad’s headphones and wondering why.

It was May 2001 and a dear friend burned me a mixed CD. One of the first songs was One Step Closer. With everything happening in my life at that point, I found comfort in the lyrics and Chester's screaming. I asked him for more music. I had to know who this Linkin Park was and if their other songs were as powerful as this one. He burned all of Hybrid Theory and I was hooked.

Soon after listening to the copy he had made me, I went to the local music store and bought Hybrid Theory. I started watching music videos while I was getting ready for work, so I could get a glimpse of LP. In those days, the latest music videos were played to start your day. I cannot tell you which video I saw first since time has made it all run together. I can tell you that these guys have changed my life forever.

I have loved music since I was a toddler. Over the years, I have found that certain music or lyrics helped me deal with a point in my life. Linkin Park saved me. Hybrid Theory came out at a time when I wanted to give up in so many ways. Without details, I can say that their music helped me regain my perspective on life and my priorities.

Since the healing process, I have not been without LP in my life. I have been with LPU since 2.0 and remained a loyal fan. As their music has evolved, so has my life. Their music has always been “unique.” I find comfort in the lyrics, Mike’s rhymes, and Chester’s screams. I wish I could give LP what they gave me. I just want each member to know what he means to me.
I am forever grateful to the guys of Linkin Park for getting me through a pivotal time in my life. I do feel like LP is family. I follow them for the humanitarian work as well as the music. All my kids know them upon sight and sound…my husband jokes that my 6-year old was born singing LP. When my youngest daughter was 18-months old, she started singing What I've Done when we went to see Transformers.

I cannot tell you a favorite song or video, but meeting Chester was a time I will never forget. I was fortunate enough to stand beside him for at least 15 minutes while he greeted other fans. I watched him cringe like his back and neck was sore, but there were no fans around. The moment a fan approached, he switched to his smiling, friendly self. I loved watching him with the younger fans…he is amazingly attentive to the children. I did not hug him, because I knew he was hurting. Fans had been jumping on him like mad. I was satisfied to shake his hand and tell him thank you, but I know he has no idea just how thankful I am.

Thanks for mentioning me ;) And also thanks for this great idea. I love to talk about stuff like that!

One of the funniest moments in my LP fan career was when I saw my first non-teen-magazine-photo of the band on the internet. It was a very old one, Mike with dark blue hair, Chester looking pretty fucked up, and all in all a very weird photo and I was looking at it, asking myself, "And you're sure that you like them?!" But that stupid photo has changed my life.

Thanks to Ang, for sharing your story with us :)

Is there anything we could do to collect our stories somehow? In a huge format... but I can't think up something, all I come up with is a site with all the stories but that would be too boring, I guess :/

@Illara: Haha that's so sweet xD I can imagine you being frightened with his pictures *lol*

@Ang: That's so awww.... I love thes stories, I love reading them and seeing how many people loves them. Sometimes one feel like no one can love them as much as one do, but reading these things makes you realize other people do too and it's AMAZING :D

@apparently.alive: We could make a section, collect all of these and post them in one single post and then link it in the front page :)
